Ruth Chadd

Ruth Chadd is a PhD candidate in Philosophy of Religion – Process Studies at Claremont School of Theology. She holds an MA Religion from Claremont School of Theology. Her research examines the intersection between process philosophy, science and aesthetics, in particular, Susanne Langer’s relevance as a forerunner of process eco-aesthetics, focusing on Langer’s studies in symbolic logic. Her research advocates for an applied philosophy that engages with the recovery of thought’s relationship with the earth as a way toward renewed connectivity with the space of the ethic-politic-juridical, the ecological, and what it means to dwell within the space of the earth.

As an adjunct professor in Religious Studies & Philosophy, Ruth is passionate about providing students with a philosophical-ethical foundation that inspires cultural and ecological innovation, creativity, and social change that empowers them to shape the future within their respective disciplines. Ruth is the former Director of the Library & Archives at the Center for Process Studies (2022-2023). She is the co-editor of the forthcoming God and the World in Crisis: Process Thought in Global Context (with Jeffery Long and Roland Faber) as part of Lexington’s Contemporary Whitehead Studies series.
